We have a ramp at the front of the shop which has a ratio of 1:10 and loading capacity of 300kg, and so should be able to be used by most wheelchair users or those with mobility vehicles. The front doors are fully automated.
Our shop interior is designed to allow access throughout for wheelchair users and prams.
We have a hearing loop under the counter and are able to use this at anytime should you require it for person to person interactions at the till. If you wish to attend an event and require BSL interpretation or an amplifying loop, please give us a few weeks notice and we’ll do our best to arrange an interpreter and make sure we have a the correct equipment for loop broadcasting.
We sometimes play quiet background music, usually light classical or jazz, in the shop. One of our team suffers from severe tinnitus and this helps distract from it, but we are more than happy to turn it off whenever requested to do so.
We have a staff toilet, which can be used by customers on request, although please note the doorway to access this is only 700mm wide.
All our events are seated, but if there is particularly high demand for an event, latecomers may be required to stand. It’s best to arrive early or let us know in advance if you require a chair when attending an event. Most of our events charge a fee, which varies depending on the event, writer or artist, staffing and refreshment costs and our overheads. We have to be able to cover the cost of events in order to continue presenting them.
